Here is a growing list of courageous businesses that are now responsibly open or will be opening soon. Some of them have recently been relabeled “essential” by our governor, while others remain listed as “non-essential.” Please support them with your business. They need it to survive! Check out our daily Pacesetter here.
I’ve heard from many of these businesses over the last couple weeks and they are ecstatic with the amount of customers they’ve been getting and the positive feedback. They were initially pretty nervous but have come to realize that the positive support far outweighs the negative people out there.
If you would like your business listed here, please comment below or find me on Facebook (Darius Teichroew) and message me there. I only ask that you commit to reasonably safe practices when you re-open. If anyone has the misfortune of running into legal trouble for opening, please contact me. We have a GoFundMe account set up for just that purpose. Additionally, there is a legal one for Shady’s Bar and other businesses here.

There are those wanting to reopen yet they’re being classified as selfish. There are those that rely on all kinds of people to supply them while they cower in fear at home. Isn’t that being selfish too?
You expect your garbage to be picked up, you expect the grocery store to be open so you can get milk, you expect truck drivers to supply the stores, you expect farmers, meat-packers, fruit and vegetable pickers all to keep food in that grocery store.
You expect Amazon to still ship all the things you’re ordering while you sit at home shopping. You expect the delivery driver to leave it on your doorstep. You expect your phone to work, your power to stay on, and your mail to show up rain, sleet, or shine. And most important, you expect the doctors and nurses to be there if you need them although many of them across the country have been furloughed because their units and services have been shut down while the entire system focuses only on COVID-19.
The whole premise of shelter in place is based on the arrogant idea that others must risk their health so you can protect yours. There is nothing virtuous about ignoring the largely invisible army required to allow people to shelter in place.
I know there are some of you that are screaming mad about what I just said but stop and really think about what is allowing you to stay safe in your home.
I truly believe that with some common sense on my part, I could easily go back to life as it was. I want to go to restaurants, I want to shop at the little store just up the road.
And yes, I could catch COVID-19. I could also catch the flu or a cold. I could get run over by a bus. I could get struck by lightning. We take risks everyday. If you choose to stay home, that is absolutely your choice. And please don’t start screaming at me about how I’ll just spread it. Why are you worried? You won’t get it because you’re staying in your home. Are you going to shelter in place every time a new strand of the flu happens?
Our economy can’t withstand any more of this. If our economy collapses, so will the rest of the world’s. If that happens, you will see the rise of tyrants.
I absolutely don’t want people to die…from COVID or anything else. I want people to live.
But sheltering in place is not living. If you feel you and everyone else in the world should stay home don’t you dare order anything online, expect anyone to bring you mail, get your garbage, work at the grocery store for you, work in packaging companies for your food, soaps, face masks, cleaners, germ x and toilet paper you all are so previously hoarding OUT OF FEAR.
If you are telling everyone to stay home you better not be buying anything because buying means someone’s making it in the “big old scary world”
Hello! The Dashery in Alexandria is open 11-4 Monday through Saturday starting May 4th! Also we are online at theDashery.com
Mr Walz is destroying our state. This virus is not gonna go away by staying in. All this is now is a political stunt by the Democrates and the head goones Pelosi Schumer Schiff. Just think if no media like back in the old days nobody would know the difference and would be living normal. Why dont we start giving all the facts like most people have mild issues and most that have passed away are old and under lying conditions. Dont say how many have recovered from it. All we get told is negative. Maybe show the whole picture and anyone with half a brain will see goverment is playing us.
The latest extension of the stay at home law from MN governor is a violation of the 14th amendment equal protection clause. Why are some businesses allowed to sell non-essential products inside, but others can only do curbside?
A lot of COVID-19 complaints are being made from a place of selfishness and ignorance. Governor Walz does not believe shelter in place will prevent people from contracting C-19. All along he’s stated that the intention was to allow our hospitals to adequately prepare for the influx of cases – once the stay at home order its lifted. I’m sick of people protesting stay at home orders under the guise they are acting nobly against a tyrannical government. If you’re a small business owner, this stinks. I’m sure the financial relief programs are insufficient, but we are talking about saving people’s lives. If your relative was the 11th patient that needed a ventilator and only 10 were available, how would you feel watching them die? Especially if the reason they got sick was because they went to get a haircut. This isn’t simply an overreaction to a form of the flu, they can save lives by getting more prepared for the eventual wave of C-19 cases.
Hi House,
I’m not sure why it is selfish and ignorant to want to provide for one’s family. And no, we’re not talking about saving lives. No lives are saved by closing these businesses, but opening them may save lives. The ones dying of COVID are almost entirely in nursing homes. But the ones dying from all the other negative factors of the pandemic, or will die if we remain locked down, they are all over in society.
I will wear a mask and social distance, but it’s time to start reopening. I don’t think there’s any more risk than when I go to Walmart!
CAN WE ALL GET TOGETHER AND JUST OPEN.
EVERYONE? ANYONE?

Let’s open up–we are prepared for sudden rise in cases. And what exactly is Gov Walz doing to address the devastation in MN long-term care facilities? Focus there and leave the rest of us to protect our own health.
